Mission of the Library

The Library's mission is to support the objectives of the College by providing resources and services to meet the information needs of faculty, students, staff, alumni and residents of Luzerne County. The Library combines a traditional library collection with new technologies making for a comprehensive program of information services. All Library collections are on open shelves to which students have direct access.

For the Public

Circulation Policies

1. A LCCC Library Card must be presented each time materials are borrowed from the library.

2. All books, audio tapes or audio records are loaned for a period of two weeks, and can be renewed once, if not requested by another patron. Patrons may check out five items with their library card.

3. No periodicals, reference material, or A/V software may be checked out from the library.

4. A 10 cent per day per item fine will be charged for overdue materials. No fine will be charged if the library is closed.

5. A fee of $5.00 will be charged for replacing a lost library card.

6. A total of three overdue notices will be sent to a delinquent borrower. A $50 per item pus a $10 per item processing fee will be charged for replacing a lost book.

7. Costs and fees totaling $2 or more will be added to a student account as a Library Hold. Library Holds may prevent students from registering for LCCC classes or receiving LCCC transcripts.

8. The LCCC library may suspend borrowing privileges if a borrower does not pay accumulated fees and fines.

9. The Library reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings to recover library materials.

Reciprocal Borrowing Program

This program allows all currently enrolled LCCC students to borrow books at any other participating libraries.

Where:
The Northeast Pennsylvania Library Network - includes all local area public libraries and all local academic libraries. More information about the NPLN can be found here.

How:
1. Present a current LCCC photo ID and another valid photo ID.
2. Follow the lending library's circulation policies.

Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loan services provide borrowing access from libraries throughout the United States, with the exception of A/V materials, computer files, e-books, e-serials, and maps. Please e-mail your requests to gpeacock@luzerne.edu, or call either 740-0424 or 1-800-377-5222 x 424. This page will provide you with more information about to use interlibrary loan. We also encourage you to stop by the library reference desk any time the library is open to ask for assistance as well.

Group Study Room Requests

Please send a request for a group study room via e-mail to our library circulation desk manager (ppetrochko@luzerne.edu), or call the library at 570-740-0415 or 1-800-377-5222 x415 during library hours.

Faculty Support Services

Library Instruction: Library instruction is available for any class offered at LCCC. The instruction sessions can be tailored to meet the specific needs of any class. Please consider this invitation if your course requires any type of library research assignment. A librarian will work with you to develop a customized library instruction session to meet the needs of your students. For the Public

Although LCCC students, staff, and faculty are the focus of the library's resources and services, the library is open to community use. Residents from Luzerne County, who are over 16 years old, may obtain a library card with a current photo ID. Public patrons are required to follow all library circulation policies as well as the patrons’ obligation guidelines.

The library staff reserves the right to remove patrons whose behavior is wasteful, harassing, or infringes on the rights of others.
