The LCCC Library owns a large microfilm collection, mostly emphasizing past issues of journals and magazines in the collection, but also including New York Times as well as local papers like Wilkes-Barre's Times Leader. Microfilm is a technology designed primarily for preservation of fragile materials with an estimated shelf life of roughly 400 years. In addition to its archival qualities, microfilm also involves pictures to actual text much like the online PDF format.

The microfilm readers can be somewhat cumbersome to use. If you are not used to operating these readers, please ask one of the library staff for assistance.
